Publica reaccredited as an enhanced healthy workplace

Publica has successfully achieved reaccreditation for the Healthy Workplace Gloucestershire Enhanced Award, recognising our continued commitment to supporting the health, wellbeing and resilience of our people across the partnership.

This latest achievement marks Publica’s third reaccreditation in five years, and demonstrates the progress we have made in embedding workplace wellbeing into everyday practice. Publica first achieved the Foundation level award in 2021, progressed to the Enhanced level in 2022, and has now achieved Enhanced status again for the second time under the newly revised Healthy Workplace Gloucestershire criteria.

The accreditation recognises organisations that take a proactive, structured and sustained approach to employee wellbeing. The refreshed framework required Publica to evidence activity across a broad range of themes, including leadership and culture, health and safety, mental and emotional wellbeing, physical wellbeing, financial wellbeing, smoke-free support, and wider community wellbeing activity.

As part of the reaccreditation process, colleagues worked together to submit a detailed evidence portfolio showing the breadth of support available across Publica and partner councils. This included Mental Health First Aiders and wellbeing advocates, Employee Assistance Programme and counselling support, wellbeing training and awareness campaigns, menopause and neurodiversity initiatives, employee benefits, learning and development opportunities, policies, communications and leadership commitment.

The revised criteria placed a greater emphasis on continuous improvement, evidence of impact and how wellbeing is embedded into workplace culture. Achieving Enhanced status again shows that Publica’s approach is not a one-off project, but an ongoing commitment to creating a healthy, inclusive and supportive place to work.

Charley Jarrett, Head of Talent and Development, said: “This reaccreditation is a real reflection of the partnership-wide effort that goes into supporting our people. Wellbeing is something we build into our everyday working practices, from the support available through our advocates and Mental Health First Aiders, to the training, resources and policies that help colleagues feel supported at work. To achieve Enhanced status again under the revised criteria is a fantastic recognition of that collective commitment.”

Our commitment is simple: to keep building a workplace where people feel supported, included, able to thrive and confident that their wellbeing matters.
