An exciting time to join Cotswold District Council – public service but not as you know it!
Cotswold District is a great place to live, work and visit, and we are rightly proud of our businesses, communities and residents. We are busy recreating a council that’s pro-active and responsive to the needs of our residents and businesses in a fast changing environment. That means we need to be ‘fleet of foot’ and look for innovative and creative ways to deliver against our Corporate Plan priorities.
About the role…
We have a great opportunity for a Village Warden to support Clean and Green Cotswolds in making a safer, cleaner and well maintained village; whilst providing a proactive Village Warden service attending identified hot spots ensuring both visitors, businesses and residents respect the local area. You will specifically work within the Bourton on the Water village to improve the local environment and promote community cohesion.
You will help Cotswold District Council build on this locality-based approach on service delivery to support communities in bringing about behavioural change. We know that good local leadership encourages positive behaviours within the local communities and your role will be essential in helping to achieve that.
You will also help raise awareness through campaigns and educational programmes and support the coordination of multi-agency activities that promote the District’s Clean and Green Cotswolds agenda.
The person we are looking for will have an interest in their community and a passion for protecting their environment. You will be out on the job meeting people so it’s important you are a good communicator and that you have the ability to remain calm and confident when dealing with challenging customers and environments.
This is a new role covering the Cotswolds, famous for quintessentially English market towns and villages built from honey-coloured stone. With a range of gently rolling hills and the largest area of outstanding natural beauty in England making it a perfect base for walking and cycling, you will have this right on your doorstep. With our agile working ethos: you will be spoilt for choice.
This is a wonderful opportunity to really make a difference and support your local community.
You will need…
- A minimum of 5 qualifications equivalent to NVQ level 2 or GCSE at Grade C/4 or above, must include Maths and English
- Ability to build customer relationships
- Experience in assessing routine situations and carrying out inspections if and when required
- Ability to remain calm and confident when dealing with challenging customers and environments
- Ability to resolve routine issues by negotiation
- Ability to travel
- Enhanced DBS
- Capable of patrolling on foot on different services and working outside in all weather conditions
