About the role…

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Strategic Support Officer to be part of our busy democratic services team.  No two days are the same and you can often read about work you’ve contributed to in the media. You’ll provide first class support for officers and elected members, including through the publication of reports and agendas and attend meetings to take minutes.  You’ll also be following up decisions to ensure that the Council is delivering great performance, achieving its targets and delivering its vision.

You’ll also be a champion for public engagement ensuring that council meetings are compliant with the rules of public participation and liaising with the public to facilitate their attendance at relevant meetings.

We’re looking for committed, confident and forward-thinking candidates with a real enthusiasm for servicing meetings and working effectively in a complex, political and high-profile organisation.

This is a replacement role which will cover West Oxfordshire. Within the District, there are plenty of places to see and visit whether you love hiking or cycling.  With our agile working ethos: you will be spoilt for choice. 

You will need…

  • GCSEs (5 A-Cs or equivalent, including Maths and English)
  • Experienced in minute-taking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good IT skills
  • To be politically sensitive and aware
  • Experience of working in Local Government or similar environment

  • Full driving licence and ability to travel between sites
