About the role…
We have two rewarding opportunities to be a part of our homelessness service.
As a Homeless Relief Officer, you will work with applicants to find solutions to their housing difficulties and to prevent homelessness occurring. Where homelessness cannot be prevented, you will determine what housing duty, if any is owed to the applicant and provide emergency accommodation where applicable with the aim of providing settled accommodation within 56 days.
You will also be involved in assisting with the day to day running of Publica’s Homeless Hostel’s, creating individual housing plans for every applicant which fully reflect their needs and circumstances and sourcing appropriate short term and long term accommodation to assist the council in discharging its duties.
This role will need to be able to cover both the Cotswolds and West Oxfordshire with the flexibility of remote working for part of the week. There is also an expectation to go into one of the Publica offices at least once or twice a week.
You will need…
- GCSEs (5 A-Cs or equivalent, including Maths and English)
- A minimum qualification equivalent to NVQ level 3 or A level, and/or two years relevant experience
- Knowledge and experience in assessing complex situations and communicating difficult decisions
- Experience of working in a Housing or Homelessness focused service
- Experience of working with vulnerable people
- Experience of working with people with complex needs
- Experience of working in an office based environment and as part of a team
- Experience of multi-agency working
- Experience recording and dealing with data accurately and effectively
