Publica

Great customer service

Publica signs up to Local Digital Declaration

Publication date: 23 Aug 2018

Publica Group has just signed a Local Digital Declaration which commits the company to the provision of local public services that will fully meet customer requirements in the Internet age.

This means that Publica - which provides services to four partner councils (Cotswold District Council, Cheltenham Borough Council, Forest of Dean and West Oxfordshire District Council) - will:

  • Design services that best meet the needs of residents
  • Challenge the technology market to offer the best tools and services required
  • Protect the privacy and security of citizens
  • Deliver better value for money.

This joint endeavour was launched by the UK Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government, the Government Digital Service, and a collection of local authorities and sector bodies from across the UK. They have now invited more organisations, including Publica, to sign the Declaration and commit to its principles.

The group Managing Director, David Neudegg, comments:

“Technological advances in digital tools and technology are making it possible for us to deliver and improve our wide range of services effectively across traditional local authority boundaries.

“We will be able to interrogate data much more intelligently, and this will enable us to make greater efficiencies through reshaped public services. Our culture is also changing with an emphasis on putting the customer needs at the heart of everything we do. At the same time, we will continue to ensure data security and customer privacy, and each partner council will retain control over their strategy, policy and decision making and the standard of service that they require.

“Essentially, we want to ensure that technology is an enabler rather than a barrier to service improvements so that we can create an environment where citizens and officials actually enjoy doing business with us."
